Medicare Update
In this two-part session, American Ambulance Association Medicare Consultant Brian S. Werfel, Esq. will update you on the latest news related to Medicare reimbursement. The second part of the presentation will focus on compliance issues. The discussion will include several recent cases that have expanded the federal government's tools for enforcing violations of the anti-kickback statute, the federal False Claims Act, and certain other federal statutes. Brian will provide tips on avoiding some common pitfalls, including some suggestions for revising your facility agreements to better address certain compliance issues. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A session.
The Financial Sustainability of Medicare, Medicaid, and the ObamaCare Exchanges
In this session, Brian will provide an overview of the challenges facing our elected representatives, the insurance companies, and the health care industry in meeting the health care needs of an aging population. The session will focus on the rising costs of federal health care programs, and the impact of recent legislation on the future sustainability of these programs, and the larger health insurance market. Special attention will be paid to the increase in patient cost-sharing amounts, and its impact on EMS providers. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A session.
